installation . 2021
presented at Galerie des arts visuels, Quebec City

Did you know that, originally, there was a plan to dig the floor of the Galerie des arts visuels four feet deeper? We would have been coming down to the gallery. But the site officials refused to move forward with the idea. Nevertheless, this space looks like a public swimming pool in every way. There is no doubt that this is what it will become the day the gallery moves. Here’s a life-size mockup of what this fiction might look like. The Galerie, sorry, the Piscine des arts visuels, indoor and outdoor at the same time, is suggested here. On the floor, replica tiles mark the edge of a plastic, transparent and luminous matter, which we call water. The elements that make up this immersive decor participate in a deflated sculptural impetus. All objects are flat, as if your eyes had lost the ability to understand volumes. You will need to make an appointment with the optometrist after you walk out of this documentary sketch.
